Peau de Soie

Heavier than satin with a semi-dull finish, but made in the same way as satin.

  • Acetate
    • Very heavy satin with a matte finish. The fabric most used in wedding dresses during the 40's and 50's. Maintains shape of design, but tendency to wrinkle easily. Very difficult to get today. Few mills still manufacture this fabric.
  • Polyester
    • Soft, but heavy weight satin with matte finish. Does not hold shape as well as acetate, but is a reasonable substitute.
